Bandiera di stato del bantustan adottata il 21 luglio 1973 e confermata, anche come bandiera nazionale, per la repubblica indipendente, il 13 settembre 1977, riportata nella Costituzione del 1979, atto n. 9, cap. 2, comma 3: "Three horizontal stripes of equal width from top to bottom green, yellow and brown and owards the pole a vertical blue stripe equal in width to a horizontal stripe on wich there shall appear, in the centre of the yellow stripe the letter V in brown. The width shall be equal to two thirds of the lenght. The lenght of the letter V shall be five-sevenths of the width of a stripe and the width of the letter V shall be five-sevenths of the width of a stripe"; soppressa il 26 aprile 1994, con la reintegrazione nel Sudafrica. Modello ispirato al Vierkleur del Transvaal. Il marrone simboleggia la fertilità del suolo; il giallo i fiori del Venda; il verde rappresenta l'ambiente, la correttezza e allude anche al culto degli antenati; l’azzurro sta per il cielo e il tradizionale copricapo (Vhulunghamadi) ed infine la lettera V, sta per Venda e la gente, il Vhavenda. Proporzioni 2:3; la striscia verticale è pari a 1/4 della lunghezza del drappo.
